Al Maktoum Airport Transfer (DWC) — Private Car

This is the DWC transfer, not DXB

Dubai has two international airports. This page covers Al Maktoum International (DWC) in Dubai South, used by a growing number of budget and charter carriers. If you are landing at Dubai International in Garhoud, book the DXB airport transfer instead — the two airports are about 60 kilometres apart and the fares are not interchangeable.

Why DWC is the airport worth pre-booking

Distance is the thing travellers underestimate. DWC is roughly 50 kilometres from Downtown and further still from Deira, so it is a genuine journey rather than a hop. Taxi supply at DWC is also thinner than at DXB because flight volumes are lower and arrivals are more clustered — when two flights land together, the rank empties fast and app pricing climbs steeply.

Booking ahead fixes both the price and the wait, which matters more here than at any other arrival point in the UAE.

How the pickup works

We track your flight from departure, so the driver's arrival is tied to when your aircraft actually lands rather than to the timetable. Your driver waits inside the arrivals hall holding a name board, helps with luggage and walks you to the vehicle. You get 60 minutes of free waiting from touchdown, which on a normal day covers immigration and baggage comfortably.

Journey times from DWC

• Dubai Marina and JBR — 35 to 45 minutes
• Palm Jumeirah — 40 to 50 minutes
• Downtown and Business Bay — 45 to 55 minutes
• Deira and Bur Dubai — 55 to 70 minutes
• Abu Dhabi — around 60 minutes, and closer than from DXB

Friday evenings and the weekday rush between 5pm and 8pm can add twenty minutes or more.

Vehicles

The standard vehicle carries up to three passengers with luggage. Larger groups take a van seating up to six, or a minibus for bigger parties. Give us your headcount and bag count at booking so the right vehicle is assigned — with DWC's distance, arriving to a vehicle that is too small is a genuinely awkward problem to fix.

Getting to DWC without a booked car

There is no metro station at Al Maktoum. The nearest Red Line stop is a long way north, and the bus connections that do exist are infrequent and slow with luggage. In practice the realistic options are a taxi from the rank, a ride-hailing app, or a pre-booked car — and the first two are exactly what becomes unreliable when several flights land together late at night, which is when a lot of budget carriers schedule their arrivals.

Departures

The service runs in both directions. For an international departure from DWC, leave three hours before the flight and build in more margin than you would for DXB, because the drive itself is longer from most of Dubai.

Other transfer options

If you are heading to another emirate rather than into Dubai, the airport to Ras Al Khaimah transfer is priced for the longer route. For a vehicle at your disposal for a whole day rather than one leg, the full-day private car with driver is the better value.
