Dubai Airport (DXB) to Ras Al Khaimah Transfer

Why this route needs its own booking

Ras Al Khaimah is a different emirate, about 110 kilometres north of Dubai International. That puts it well outside the range where a metered Dubai taxi makes sense. Inter-emirate fares climb quickly, some drivers decline the trip at the rank because of the empty return leg, and you end up negotiating at the kerb after a long flight.

A fixed-fare private transfer removes all of that. If your destination is inside Dubai, use the standard DXB airport transfer instead, which is priced for the shorter run.

The drive

The route runs north on Emirates Road or Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, through Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain, before crossing into Ras Al Khaimah. In normal conditions it takes 75 to 105 minutes.

The stretch through Sharjah is the variable part, and it is worth knowing about: weekday evenings and Friday afternoons can add half an hour because of commuter traffic between Sharjah and Dubai. An arrival outside those windows usually runs closer to the lower end.

Where in Ras Al Khaimah

• Al Marjan Island: the resort strip, and the most common destination by a wide margin
• RAK city and the Corniche
• Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab
• Jebel Jais: the mountain road, with the zipline that holds the Guinness record for the longest in the world at about 2.8 kilometres

Give us the hotel or the address when you book and the fare is confirmed for that specific destination rather than estimated. Al Marjan Island in particular is a causeway development where the individual resorts are a few minutes apart, so the exact hotel matters.

Arrival at DXB

We track your flight, so the pickup follows the actual landing time rather than the timetable. Your driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board and helps with the luggage. You have 60 minutes of free waiting from touchdown, which covers immigration and baggage on a normal day.

On a route this long, that tracking matters more than it does for a city transfer. A two-hour delay with no driver waiting at the far end would leave you looking for an inter-emirate taxi late at night, which is the situation this booking exists to avoid.

What it costs against the alternatives

There is no direct public transport from DXB to Ras Al Khaimah. The realistic options are these.

For a one-way arrival with bags, the fixed-fare transfer is usually the straightforward choice. If you intend to drive up to Jebel Jais during your stay, car hire has an argument in its favour that it does not have otherwise.

Travelling the other way

The same transfer runs in reverse, and early-morning departures are common on this route because of the drive. For an international flight out of DXB, allow four hours in total: the journey plus check-in. Anything leaving before about 8am should be arranged the day before rather than on the morning.

Practical notes

• Priced per vehicle, not per person. The standard vehicle takes up to six passengers with two or three pieces of luggage, and a larger vehicle is available on request.
