Five ways to get from Dubai Airport to Dubai Marina
1. Private airport transfer
A driver meets you inside arrivals, the fare is fixed before you fly, and the flight is tracked. For this particular route it is the option that removes the most uncertainty, because the Marina run is long enough that a metered fare varies noticeably with traffic.
2. Metered taxi
Straightforward and regulated. Expect roughly AED 100 to 130 to the Marina, more in heavy traffic since the meter runs on time as well as distance. Queues at peak arrival banks can add 20 to 30 minutes before you even start.
3. Careem or Uber
Both work well from DXB's designated pickup zones. Pricing is competitive off-peak and can exceed a private transfer during surges, which tend to coincide with the busiest arrival times.
4. Dubai Metro plus tram
The cheapest option by a wide margin at under AED 15. Take the Red Line from Terminal 1 or 3 to DAMAC Properties or Jumeirah Lakes Towers, then the Dubai Tram into the Marina. Budget 75 to 90 minutes including the change, and be realistic about luggage — there is walking at both ends and Dubai Metro restricts oversized bags. Terminal 2 has no Metro station at all.
5. Hotel shuttle
Some Marina hotels run scheduled shuttles. They are often free but fixed to a timetable, which is fine for a daytime arrival and useless at 2am.
Cost by group size
This is where the comparison shifts. Taxi and Metro fares are per vehicle and per person respectively; a private transfer is per vehicle regardless of headcount.
- Solo with hand luggage — Metro wins on cost, taxi on time.
- Couple with two suitcases — taxi or private transfer; the Metro stops being comfortable.
- Family of four with bags — private transfer, usually cheaper than two taxis and far easier with child seats.
- Group of six or more — a van transfer is comfortably the cheapest per head.

Where exactly in Dubai Marina?
"Dubai Marina" covers a large area and the last kilometre matters. Marina Walk, JBR, Bluewaters Island and Dubai Harbour all sit within a few minutes of each other but have very different access roads, and the one-way system around the Marina towers is genuinely confusing. Give your exact hotel or building name when booking rather than just "Dubai Marina".
The return trip
Going back to DXB, leave the Marina three hours before an international departure. That is not padding: the drive plus Terminal 3 check-in queues genuinely consume it at peak times. For an early-morning flight, book the car the day before.

- Avoid landing into the 5pm to 8pm window if you have a choice.
- Request child seats when booking; they cannot be sourced at the kerb.
