Dubai doesn't really have four seasons. It has two very different climates, a mild winter and a fierce summer, and which one you land in shapes your trip more than any other decision. This guide explains each month in turn, so you can choose the right time for the weather, the prices and the attractions you care about.

Quick answer: The best time to visit Dubai is November to March, when daytime highs are around 24–30°C and everything outdoors is at its best. For better value with good weather, go in late October or April. June to August is the cheapest time, but highs reach 40°C and above, so you'll spend most of the day indoors.

Winter in Dubai: November to March

This is peak season, and it earns it. Daytime highs sit in the mid-twenties, humidity drops, and evenings are cool enough to want a light layer. Everything Dubai is famous for outdoors works in this window: the beaches, rooftop dining, desert safaris and walking around Downtown instead of taking a taxi two blocks.

It's also the only window for some attractions. Dubai Miracle Garden is outdoors and seasonal: the 2026–27 season runs from 8 October 2026 to 31 May 2027, and it closes through the summer because the flowers can't survive the heat. Our Dubai Miracle Garden guide covers this season's dates, timings and tickets.

What winter costs you

Hotel rates are at their highest, and the gap is big: the same room can cost double what it does in July. Popular timed slots, such as the Burj Khalifa At The Top at sunset, sell out days ahead in January and February, not hours. Book anything with a timed entry before you fly. Here’s how At the Top and SKY compare.

Good to know

Winter is the best time for a sunrise hot air balloon flight or a desert safari. The desert is pleasant in the early morning and evening, and visibility is at its best. Our balloon price guide covers the season and costs.

The shoulder months: April, May, September and October

These are the months experienced visitors choose. April and early May still feel like a long spring: warm rather than punishing, with winter prices already starting to ease.

September is the hardest month to recommend. The heat has eased slightly, but humidity is at its peak, so it often feels worse than August.

Late October is arguably the best single window of the year. The heat has genuinely eased, the sea is still warm from summer, peak-season prices haven't started, and outdoor tours such as a full-day private city tour or a sunrise balloon flight are comfortable again. Miracle Garden has also reopened by then.

Summer in Dubai: June to August

In summer a private car keeps you in air-conditioning between stops, which matters more than any other comfort from June to August.

Highs reach 40–45°C, with high humidity near the coast. Midday outdoors is genuinely unpleasant. That's not a small detail to plan around; it shapes the whole day.

What summer gives you is value and space. Hotels discount heavily, restaurants take walk-ins, and the indoor attractions that queue in winter are close to empty. These are fully air-conditioned and better without the crowds:

The Museum of the Future is closed until early 2027, so don't plan around it.

The Green Planet is fully indoors, which makes it one of the best summer choices.

The sea is at its warmest in summer, around 33°C in August, which is closer to a warm bath than a refreshing swim. Dubai Summer Surprises usually runs through these months, with mall promotions and family events.

How to make summer work

  • Plan the day around the heat. Do outdoor things before 9am, go indoors from 11am to 5pm, and head outside again after sunset.
  • Book transfers instead of hailing taxis. Waiting at the kerb in 43°C is the part people remember. A private airport transfer gets you into a cool car straight away.
  • Go on the water in the evening. A Dubai Marina dinner cruise is noticeably cooler than the shore once the sun goes down.

Ramadan and public holidays

Ramadan follows the Islamic lunar calendar and moves about 11 days earlier each year. In 2027 it's expected to begin around early February, with the exact date confirmed by moon sighting, so check it against your travel dates.

During Ramadan the city runs differently. Daytime is quieter, some restaurants close or screen off their dining areas until sunset, live music is paused, and the city comes alive after iftar, when the fast is broken at sunset. It's not a reason to avoid Dubai, as the evenings are one of the most memorable things to experience, but it's good to know before you go. Tours, tickets and transfers all run as normal, though some attractions change their opening hours.

Eid holidays at the end of Ramadan and around Eid Al Adha are busy, with higher hotel prices, as many residents travel and visitors arrive from across the region.
